Stonehaven is back in business and you are invited to join in with the Open day activities on Saturday 15th May. The floods may have affected local businesses, but Stonehaven is bouncing back . Both the community and visitors alike will have the opportunity to take advantage of the generosity and enthusiasm of local businesses with many offering discounts throughout the day. Prizes and competitions will also being running, so come and join us for your chance to win anything from designer sunglasses to a year's supply of flowers. With so much choice on offer, there is sure to be something to suit everyone.

The event has been pulled together by Stonehaven Town Partnership, Stonehaven Business Association, Kincardine & Mearns Area Partnership, as well as support from Aberdeenshire Council. It is has also provided the perfect motivator to smarten up the town to welcome people back after recent events. This has been a real team effort by a number of local organisations who continuously demonstrate their commitment and dedication to ensuring that Stonehaven remains an attractive place to live and visit.

Northsound1 and John Mellis will be kicking off the day on Saturday from 10am until 12 noon with a Road Show from the Market Square. John Mellis will have several prizes donated by local traders to give away.

If you make a purchase at any of the local businesses, you can use your receipt to grab the chance to win more wonderful prizes.

There will also be a FREE Prize draw at the The Press and Journal Showstopper Trailer in the Square, to win a Bottle of Press and Journal Malt Whisky On the hour, every hour (up to 4pm)

There will be a Treasure Trail, treasure hunt and other competitions and FREE P&J Balloons for Kids. Watch out for the magician and street entertainers. Also Special Tombola organised by Crafty Creations to raise funds for the local churches who helped many businesses last November.

In the afternoon, Mearns FM will broadcast live at the Square and some live entertainment will be provided. Main prizes will be awarded at around 4pm. The Town Hall will be open to the public like never before, with tours and exhibitions showcasing all that makes Stonehaven special. Also story telling for children in the hall.

The town will be awash with bunting and balloons, creating a great atmosphere for what should be a fun day for all the family.

Kincardine and Mearns Area Manager William Munro said: "This will be a very significant day for Stonehaven.

Many organisations and businesses will be working together proving how strong and resilient the community is and just how far everyone has come since the day of the terrible flood in November.

Hopefully residents and visitors will make the day a success
